Daddy Yankee fans just received the most unexpected news that left them all in shock.

Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez — better known as the “King of Reggaetón” — is now being called, “Legendaddy” after he announced that his retirement days are approaching.

The countdown finally came today (March 20), with the “Gasolina,” singer posting a video message titled, “At Last I See The Goal, This Message Is For You.”

In the video, Daddy Yankee says, “this career that has been a marathon, I finally see the goal.” He reflected on his incredible journey as a singer in a genre that people originally told him he “would not become known.” He claims the people were the ones to have given him the key which gave him access to make his genre well-known around the world.

The Puerto Rican legend continued to share the lesson’s learned throughout his career and how he’s worked towards not failing his fans by not getting into any problems. With a lot of discipline, and to be able to inspire the younger generations to become leaders, to dream about growing, not to think about limitations, and to work for their families and for themselves.

You can watch more on what Daddy Yankee had to say on his music retirement below:

After the Big Boss’ announcement was released, Daddy Yankee removed all his posts on Instagram. He only shared the video where fans, fellow singers he has collaborated with and that have followed him throughout his career, shared their thoughts. Many expressed their sadness and thanked the legendary artist for his work.

Rauw Alejandro commented on the post, “Thank you for inspiring us, thank you for your sacrifice, thank you for these years! DY Forever 🎶🎶🎶🐐🙏🏼💙,” the Colombian singer J Balvin said, “thank you, thank you, thank you,” the Dominican singer Natti Natasha said, “Legend 🙏 thank you,” and the Panamanian singer Sech commented, “😢😢😢😢 the big boss ♾ 🙌.”

Amongst the thousands of comments, Puerto Rican producer and composer, Gaby Music, who has worked numerous times with Daddy Yankee, said, “thank you for the great music, the legacy and gifting us the #Reggaeton genre. Forever thankful for the opportunity. @daddyyankee 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Legendaddy.”

His wife Mirredys, also shared the video on her Instagram page with a long message saying, “Today I have mixed feelings, I am HAPPY and SAD!!!! It’s ironic that on a day like today, March 20th as we celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary, I hear you tell the WORLD that you’re retiring from the MUSIC that has been your passion for these past three decades. Soon you have to say goodbye to the stages.”

She continued with, “you’ve enjoyed Daddy Yankee for so long, but now it’s Raymond Ayala’s turn to enjoy what he’s built. Sometimes endings are the beginning of great things. You managed to enlarge our family with all the FANS from all over the world who supported you from beginning to end. They were, are, and will be a part of our lives FOREVER; they have never failed you and have always been loyal to you. Know you FANS who are also part of history. My husband, I LOVE YOU and CONGRATULATE YOU because although many times the road was HARD, YOU stayed on track, so much so that today at last you see the goal. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY 👰‍♂️👨🏻‍⚖️. THANK GOD FOR ALLOWING US TO GET HERE 🙏🏻. From 🇵🇷 for the 🗺
#elesposodetodas.”
