NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Promoter Live Nation has announced details for the upcoming Farm Aid concert to be held at Randall's Island in New York on September 9th.
The festival, a longtime fixture of the Summer concert scene has been staged since 1985 when Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young decided to hold a fund raising concert to farming families. From that genesis, a non-profit organization has been founded which stages the concert on a near annual basis, works to raise public awareness of the plight of small farmers and claim to have raised more than $30 dollars for the cause.
While the full lineup is still in the works, Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Neil Young & Dave Matthews are all on the bill. Tickets for the event go on sale on Saturday, June 16th at 10:00 AM.
Randall's Island is adjacent to New York City and features the newly-remodeled Icahn Stadium, overseen by Randall’s Island Sports Foundation. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
