DUBLIN, Ireland (CelebrityAccess) — Irish singer Sinead O’Connor announced that after taking some time to address her mental health, she’s ready to return to the stage.

O’Connor announced plans for two U.S. performances next month — The Music Hall in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on April 24th and at the Academy of Music in Northampton, Massachusetts on April 25th.

O’Connor, who is now performing under the name Magda Davitt, announced that she was changing her name in an interview with Dr. Phil last September in which she discussed her mental health issues. The new name, according to Davitt, is “free of parental curses.”

“Sinead O’Connor is gone,” she told Dr. Phil during the September interview. “That person is gone.”

Davitt appears to have been easing back into public life. In January, she appeared at a concert marking the 60th birthday of Pogues frontman Shane McGowan. The sold-out concert at the National Concert Hall in Dublin also included performances from Nick Cave, Bobby Gillespie, Glen Hansard and Camille O’Sullivan.

McGowan and Davitt have been friends for years after collaborating on the 1995 single “Haunted.”
